About me

I'm Menno-Paul Schreuder, a senior front-end developer from Apeldoorn. I work in the Belastingdienst's design system team through Saxum, and through Pixels for Breakfast, which I started in 2017, I take on web development projects and Angular upgrades.

I started in IT and moved through DTP and marketing work. The visual side drew me in, and with my affinity for software, front-end development was where both came together.

My best assignments involve Angular or Vue and a lot of CSS, preferably Tailwind. Non-standard layouts, animation and responsive or animated SVG are where I'm at my best. I like working with designers who push the limits of what's possible, and helping turn complex, bespoke designs into code a team can maintain.

I work best as the bridge between design and development: I understand both sides well enough to translate between them. My focus is front-end, but I know my way around PHP and .NET backends from years of different assignments.

What to expect

I'm curious, hands-on and quick to get productive in a new codebase. What I don't know yet, I learn fast and pragmatically. If you need someone who knows every corner of one framework, I'm probably not your developer. If you need a senior who takes on a challenge and puts in the time to master what it takes, let's talk over a cup of coffee.

Outside work

I live in Apeldoorn, I'm married, and three young women call me dad. Our dog Capo ('boss', and he acts like it) gets an hour-long walk every evening. I love music and singing, and I never quite got over wanting to be a fighter pilot, so DCS gets fired up now and then.
